Private Murder Mysteries at Thayer's Historic B&B, MN

We suggest that you plan your Private Murder Mystery Dinner 3 or more weeks in advance - but, sometimes we can fit in last minute requests.
When making arrangements for others, we need everyone's names and addresses that will be attending because...
Prior to your murder mystery date, (about 8 to 10 days) we mail each person attending an information packet - that is a Personal and Confidential Character Profile - it includes a full character description and costume suggestions.
Depending on the Murder Mystery you select, many times the costumes can be put together with items found in your closet.
You may tell each other what your character's name is and most certainly you can help each other put costumes together, but, please DO NOT tell anyone what your character knows until you get to the mystery.

DO NOT read anyone else's Confidential Character Information.
Thayer's Murder Mystery Dinners do not work well as a surprise outing. When looking to surprise someone, we suggest our other Entertainment for a fun Surprise.

A B&B stay is not required to hold a Private Murder Mystery Dinner at Thayer's.
Private Murder Mysteries include: The Murder Mystery theme, plot, era and the menu all selected by the host, plus exclusive use of Thayer's dining-room.
All Thayer's Murder Mystery Dinners are interactive which means that everyone attending becomes a character in the Murder Mystery.
For smaller groups you might want to consider attending a scheduled Murder Mystery Dinner.
You may book a Private Murder Mystery Dinner for any time that works for you. We have found that Murder Mystery Dinners that begin around 6:30pm to 6:45pm work well.
We have had Murder Mysteries as a breakfast and lunch but, dinners seem to be the favorite.
Murder Mystery Dinners last about 3 hours, depending on how many guests are attending.
We do not have a liquor license.
No wine, beer or other intoxicating beverages may be brought into the B&B unless you have booked guest rooms for the evening; then and only then does the state liquor law permit, guests to bring in wine, for personal use, to be enjoyed in your guest room.
The Murder, Mystery and meal all happen together so, while you are enjoying Sharon's great food, the Murder Mystery is going on too.

Everyone attending a murder mystery dinner becomes a main or supporting character.
Everyone is a suspect!
Characters are not gender specific.
There are no lines to remember.
Yes, costumes are necessary, they are half the fun!
Thayer's Murder Mysteries are designed to have fun with so... please, relax and don't get excited about mistakes. Thayer's Mysteries are designed so that they are fail safe.
You could be the dirty dog, killer... but, just because you are, don't assume you are protected... we have been known to knock off a killer now and again!...

Here are the Murder Mystery themes, plots and eras we have available. Some of these titles can be set in a different era, so please ask about changing the era, if there is a Murder Mystery that really interests you.
Select your Murder Mystery Dinner from this Menu or have owner and Chef, Sharon Gammell, customize a Dinner menu for you; having a customized menu, will cost more.

Cost for a Private Murder Mystery Dinner is $65 plus 6.875%tax and $13 service-gratuity charge per guest. Coupons & discounts may be applied to this price. There are no refunds.
2 actors are required to assist in our Murder Mystery Dinners which we provide at no additional charge.
3 hours of Dining-room rental is included in the price.
Additional rental time is available at $200 per hour plus tax and is billed in 1 hour increments.
All Private & Group Events are secured with a $950 down payment or full payment, which ever is less. Balance is due 45 days prior to event.
When payment has been received by Thayer's, the date you have chosen, is secured; once a date is secured, they are not-exchangeable.
We do understand that unforeseen things & emergencies can happen; we will work with you as best we can you re-schedule.
As payment we accept VISA, Master Card, Discover, checks and cash. When paying with a personal or company check, the check payment must clear your bank before the date is yours.
Children under 16 years may not attend most of Thayer's Murder Mystery Dinners. We do have 2 Murder Mysteries that are suitable for young people.
If for some unforeseen reason it is necessary for Thayer's to cancel a private event reservation, Thayer's is responsible to return to the original purchaser only the full amount paid to Thayer's.
